David McKee是英国著名的儿童图画书作者，素有“当代寓言大师“的封号。他最出名的代表作品就是花格子大象Elmer系列。

故事主人公艾玛是一只与众不同的大象，它不是灰色的而是五颜六色的。艾玛是大家的开心果，但是它却常常因为自己与众不同的颜色而烦恼。

这个系列迄今已转译为二十多国语言，掳获了全球无数幼儿的心。
