有人问我推荐10本必读英文绘本，这是一份很艰难的差事。好绘本太多，再怎么精挑细选都难免有遗珠之憾，顺得哥情失嫂意。
以下根据我个人喜好，以及考量是否在本地（马来西亚）书店容易购得的10大英文绘本（排序不分先后）。
1. The Very Hungry Caterpillar – Eric Carle
集毛毛虫科普和数字启蒙，这部卡爷爷Eric Carle的经典作品，适合与0-4岁孩子共读，大人可以配合一些动作和口技，孩子一定感觉很有趣。
“One sunny Sunday, the caterpillar was hatched out of a tiny egg. He was very hungry. On Monday, he ate through one apple; on Tuesday, he ate through three plums–and still he was hungry. When full at last, he made a cocoon around himself and went to sleep, to wake up a few weeks later wonderfully transformed into a butterfly!”

2. This Is Not My Hat – Jon Klassen
Jon Klassen的《帽子三部曲》中，我尤其喜欢这本。书中各个角色，仅靠眼神演绎，内容以文图不符的方式呈现，非常逗趣。适合与3岁以上孩子共读。
“When a tiny fish shoots into view wearing a round blue topper (which happens to fit him perfectly), trouble could be following close behind. So it’s a good thing that enormous fish won’t wake up. And even if he does, it’s not like he’ll ever know what happened…”

3. We’re Going On a Bear Hunt – Michael Rosen
作者以美国一首民歌为创作灵感，如今这首“We’re Going On a Bear Hunt”是小朋友耳熟能详的歌曲。对于刚开始共读，或者对英语不熟悉的幼儿，边翻书边唱歌是很好的启蒙，建议共读年龄0-4岁。

4. The Gruffalo – Julia Donaldson
作者善于撰写文字押韵的故事，其中以The Gruffalo闻名世界，但其实她的其他作品也很精彩，比如《Room on the Broom》，适合与3岁以上孩子共读。
This is a rhyming story of a mouse and a monster. Little mouse goes for a walk in a dangerous forest. To scare off his enemies he invents tales of a fantastical creature called the Gruffalo. So imagine his surprise when he meets the real Gruffalo.

5. Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site – Sherri Duskey Rinker
很爱车车的2-4岁小孩会欣赏这本，也非常适合当睡前读物。当初多多看的是中文版，后来发现英文原著的文字非常优美，翻译后的中文内容带不出那个味道。因此，我会更推荐英文版的。

6. Lost and Found – Oliver Jeffers
这是一个小男孩与一只小企鹅之间友情的小故事。Lost and Found是作者小男孩系列中之一，Up and Down，How to Catch a Star，The Way Back Home，都是走温馨友情路线的佳作。适合与3岁以上孩子共读。
What is a boy to do when a lost penguin shows up at his door? Find out where it comes from, of course, and return it. But the journey to the South Pole is long and difficult in the boy’s rowboat. There are storms to brave and deep, dark nights.To pass the time, the boy tells the penguin stories. Finally, they arrive. Yet instead of being happy, both are sad. 7. I Broke My Trunk – Mo Willems
内容以简单对话呈现，文字重复却一点也不乏味，可见作者的功力非同凡响。多多2-3岁时，这是一本鼓励Role Play学习讲英语的绘本；认字后，这是一本鼓励孩子独立阅读的绘本。这也是系列之一，多多很喜欢的还有I am Invited to a Party，Watch me Throw the Ball，Let’s Go for a Ride等等。

8. Curious George Goes To A Chocolate Factory – Margret & H.A, Rey
孩子喜欢吃巧克力？来给他/她共读这本。不止经典，价格也很亲民。有兴趣的可以到BookXcess碰碰运气！适合与3岁以上的孩子共读
When George and the man with the yellow hat stop to shop at a chocolate factory store, George becomes curious about how chocolates are made. Though he begins to follow the factory tour, George is soon off on his own to investigate.

9. The Storm Whale in Winter – Benji Davies
这是The Storm Whale的续集，Benji Davies的作品总让人爱不释手。我们家还有一本中文版的Grandad’s Island《爷爷的天堂岛》，都是图画漂亮得不得了，故事也非常有意义的佳作。适合与4岁以上孩子共读。
On a snowy island, a little boy waits and watches while his father sails out on one last fishing trip. As the snow becomes a blizzard and then a powerful storm, the little boy must find his father. But when he needs help, who will save him?

10. My Teacher is a Monster！（No, I am not.) – Peter Brown
严厉的老师在班上吆喝顽皮捣蛋的孩子，学校以外的老师是怎样的呢？Peter Brown的作品我们家也看了不少，其中以 Mr. Tiger Goes Wild《老虎先生来撒野》点播率最高，但我觉得这本更容易引起家长的共鸣，毕竟我们都曾经是孩子。适合与4岁以上的孩子共读。
